Family recipes

All my posts seem to start with I have been meaning to! But I had been meaning to make something to hold handed on recipes from friends and family, these are important to us as they often have good memories linked to them and like Ria's coleslaw have become a family favourite!!

This chipboard album I bought in Canada a few years ago along with the papers. I downloaded some printable recipe cards in lots of different designs and have started the process of copying things into the book, I ought to add the stories too :)

In keeping with the theme William and I made bread today and had lots of fun. And it was delicious too.

The key!

I don't have a key to my parents house anymore and it made me think about whether I am now a grown up? I've had my own home for 16 years but it still felt odd! This page is based around the key really which in itself has lots of stories...

Scrap365 sketch challenge

My first attempt at a sketch challenge. I am pleased to have found a place to use the tags I made a couple of weeks ago. I really enjoyed trying to adapt the sketch and my materials to each other. And of course there is hidden journaling in a homemade envelope :)

Half term fun with clay

The children have been playing with air drying clay this week and so I played along! I have been meaning to try and make a Christmas tree ornament for 2012 for a while and mid February seems a reasonable time! William and I spent the week before Christmas in hospital in Southampton after he had surgery and we have ornaments from our travels to various places so I thought why not Southampton general! A bit of glossy accents and some stamping and here we go. I thought I might use the others in scrapbook layouts at sometime. Madeleine and I had lots of fun painting our creations today :)

Bathing beauties

This photo was my birthday card a couple of years ago when went to beach for lunch. It was just after William was born and we had been in hospital for weeks so a day out was just what we needed. My stepfather found this picture of me and my mum on the beach in France on probably my 15th birthday. I love the texture as the photo is old, has been scanned then printed onto card. I wanted a layout that was simple with lots of white space to make the picture the star. Did you notice the fat face clothes tag for a spot of recycling!

Long time coming!

I finally finished our holiday album from our trip to Canada in 2009! I am ashamed to say I bought the chipboard album in my friends store in Nova Scotia and started work when we got home but then it sat in a box for 4 years until I picked it up again recently and decided it just needed to be finished. It is a nice mix of cut paper and journaling, I try to be messy and my more recent mini books are much more mixed and fun but I do like my guillotine and straight lines!

I love making mini books and chop and change between books and page layouts, I like having lots of photos which makes mini books a good choice but there is something very satisfying about finishing a project in one session!

Just hanging out!

Today I have had some time to start scrapping the huge pile of photos and stuff that has been in my todo pile for too long. Themes for 2013 are making time to be creative and using my stash. I want to be a scrapbooker not a paper stroker this year!

First up was a set of pictures from the winter that made two layouts, I am really pleased with this page for William using scraps from another project. I like the white space and the hidden journaling tag on the side.

The other page is a set of pictures from the summer that I have used with some new paper ( winter sale madness!) and loosely based on a previous layout with one large and several small pictures set at angles, I like this sketch and will probably use it again and again.

Lovely afternoon in the garden today reminded me how lovely it is to get out in the sun and how much fun the children will be this year :)
